Job Requirements
- Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling
- Six months of related experience
- Must have a valid Texas Class C driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required
- Must be able to perform extensive physical exertion such as lifting heavy objects more than 80 pounds, bending, climbing steps
- Must comply with drug testing policies as this is a safety impact position
- Ability to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, and rotation
- Must demonstrate integrity, courtesy, and respect in all interactions
- Must be able to operate cleaning equipment and perform related maintenance tasks
Job Qualifications

- Preference given to applicants with hard floor care maintenance experience or custodial experience
- Bilingual/multilingual is a plus
- Certification toward related experience is a plus
Job Duties
- Performing commercial janitorial services by cleaning and maintaining multi-unit and single restrooms, trash removal, cleaning hard surface floors, window cleaning, vacuuming, and shampooing carpeted areas, high dusting, and emergency response biohazard cleaning services
- Operating a large variety of cleaning equipment, machines, tools to perform a variety of heavy cleaning tasks including scrubbing and polishing floors, stripping and sealing floors, steam cleaning furniture
- and operating two-way radios
- Monitoring inventory control of cleaning supplies
- Performing basic maintenance and repairs to structures, facilities and equipment (housekeeping activities)
- furniture moving and unloading
- May operate vehicles to and from work locations
- Performing additional miscellaneous assignments as required
