Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling
  • six months of related experience
  • must have a valid Texas Class C driver's license and comply with City of Houston's driving policy
  • able to pass a criminal background check
  • obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances
  • willingness to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • able to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting objects over 80 pounds, bending, climbing steps
  • ability to make coordinated motor movements in response to external stimuli
  • compliance with safety policies and random drug testing

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions
  • six months of related experience
  • valid Texas Class C driver's license
  • preference for experience in hard floor care maintenance or custodial services
  • bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus
  • certification toward related experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Performing commercial janitorial services by cleaning and maintaining multi-unit and single restrooms, trash removal, cleaning hard surface floors, window cleaning, vacuuming, and shampooing carpeted areas, high dusting, and emergency response biohazard cleaning services
  • operating a large variety of cleaning equipment, machines, tools to perform a variety of heavy cleaning tasks including scrubbing and polishing floors, stripping and sealing floors, steam cleaning furniture
  • operating two-way radios
  • monitoring inventory control of cleaning supplies
  • performing basic maintenance and repairs to structures, facilities and equipment (housekeeping activities)
  • furniture moving and unloading
  • operating vehicles to and from work locations
  • performing additional miscellaneous assignments as required
