Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in food service or cafeteria work helpful but not required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work 30 hours per week as scheduled
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to operate kitchen and serving equipment safely
  • Flexibility to occasionally act as cashier

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

Job Duties

  • Exercise courtesy in contacts with patients, customers and department staff
  • Set up, serve and clean up food service area
  • Prepare orders such as soda fountain dishes, desserts as directed
  • Maintain prescribed standards of sanitation, housekeeping and safety in assigned work area
  • Clean utensils and equipment before, during and after serving
  • Perform limited food preparation or final processing of simple salads, desserts, vegetables, etc.
  • Set up and maintain beverage containers and related equipment
  • Set up condiment areas and hot food counters, maintain adequate supply and cleanliness
  • Store condiments and leftovers in a sanitary manner
  • Check inventory needs and notify proper personnel
  • Wash and sanitize dining room tables and chairs
  • Maintain supply of salt and pepper shakers
  • Set up patient trays
  • Handle food transporters as necessary
  • Report defective equipment to supervisor
  • Occasionally act as fill-in cashier
  • Perform other food service duties as required
