Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food service or cafeteria work helpful but not required
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work 30 hours per week as scheduled
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to operate kitchen and serving equipment safely
- Flexibility to occasionally act as cashier
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Job Duties
- Exercise courtesy in contacts with patients, customers and department staff
- Set up, serve and clean up food service area
- Prepare orders such as soda fountain dishes, desserts as directed
- Maintain prescribed standards of sanitation, housekeeping and safety in assigned work area
- Clean utensils and equipment before, during and after serving
- Perform limited food preparation or final processing of simple salads, desserts, vegetables, etc.
- Set up and maintain beverage containers and related equipment
- Set up condiment areas and hot food counters, maintain adequate supply and cleanliness
- Store condiments and leftovers in a sanitary manner
- Check inventory needs and notify proper personnel
- Wash and sanitize dining room tables and chairs
- Maintain supply of salt and pepper shakers
- Set up patient trays
- Handle food transporters as necessary
- Report defective equipment to supervisor
- Occasionally act as fill-in cashier
- Perform other food service duties as required
