Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous custodial or housekeeping experience preferred
- Ability to work evening shifts
- Availability to work part-time hours totaling 22.5 per week
- Willingness to adhere to University health and safety policies
- Ability to handle exposure to dust, detergents, body wastes, and occasional infectious agents
- Strong work ethic and reliability
Job Qualifications
- Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and reach continuously
- Ability to handle heavy and medium-weight materials, equipment, and supplies
- Experience working with cleaning machines and detergents preferred
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment
- Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
- Willingness to perform varied custodial tasks as assigned
Job Duties
- Operates light and heavy-duty cleaning machines to strip, wax, and buff floors
- Wet mops, dry mops, sweeps and dusts floors
- Performs cleaning and disinfecting by fogging rooms and washing floors, walls, furniture, and fixtures with germicidal detergents
- Cleans walls, ceilings, stairs, vents, light fixtures, rugs, furniture, and draperies
- Makes beds and distributes linen
- Empties wastebaskets, collects trash, and disposes of waste in dump trucks
- Cleans kitchens, dining areas, blackboards, doors, and other surfaces
- Performs custodial tasks such as moving furniture, tightening doorknobs, changing light bulbs, and shoveling snow
- Maintains cleanliness of storage closets and cleaning equipment
