  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and mixers

Job Duties

  • Assist in gathering food supplies and equipment for cooks
  • Assist in the preparation of food
  • Perform grill and broiler activities independently
  • Tend foods that are cooking and test for progress
  • Adjust cooking time and temperature as directed
  • Prepare beverages and special diet foods
  • Peel, wash, trim, and cut vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese, and other foods
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Prepare servings of food and make up patient trays
  • Serve food onto food trucks or containers
  • Observe precautions against deterioration and degradation of foods
  • Remove food from carts when returned and store properly
  • Clean utensils, equipment, and work area
  • Obtain and arrange food, supplies, and utensils
  • Prepare ovens, fryers, and grills
  • Obtain food trucks, containers, and trays as needed
