Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Valid NC driver's license
  • Over three years of successful law enforcement experience
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Current certification as a law enforcement officer
  • Must be willing to work day and/or evening shifts as needed
  • CPR certification
  • Knowledge of NC general statutes and local ordinances

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Current certification as a law enforcement officer through NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or NC Sheriff's Education and Training Standards Commission or possession of an equivalent out-of-state certification
  • Over three years of successful law enforcement experience
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • CPR certification
  • Knowledge of NC general statutes and local ordinances
  • Preferred experience at a college or university and writing/enforcing safety policies

Job Duties

  • Travel to all campus locations on a regular basis to confer with lead security guards and review security protocols
  • Educate officers in the prevention and deterrence of crime and violation based on the college's policies
  • Provide for traffic control on a daily basis and during special functions such as graduation and registration
  • Provide for handicap parking and other special event parking as appropriate
  • Perform the duties and responsibilities of a campus security officer
  • Assist in ensuring college compliance with the Clery Act
  • Assist in reviewing all initial incident, crime, and accident reports and ensure that follow-up investigations are conducted as needed
  • Help develop and maintain proper staffing levels by providing direct feedback to the director
  • Maintain operational procedures for activities such as traffic control, guarding and patrolling physical property, orienting and monitoring of students
  • Investigate accidents and acts that violate college policy
  • Enforce criminal and traffic laws on campus
  • Respond to emergency calls
  • Assist in collecting and securing evidence concerning crimes on campus
  • Assist in the preparation of statistical reports required by the college, state, and federal agencies
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
