Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- basic computer skills including Microsoft Word
- valid Florida driver's license and meet insurance carrier standards
- obtain State of Florida Class "D" Security Officer License within 120 days
- obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification within 120 days
- obtain Basic Security Officer Certification or higher within 120 days
- able to comply with all Orlando Health policies
- flexible scheduling availability
- capable of working in all weather conditions
- willingness to support hurricane emergency teams
- maintain punctual attendance
- ability to handle stressful and potentially hostile situations
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- basic knowledge of Microsoft Word
- valid Florida driver's license and insurable under Orlando Health insurance
- State of Florida Class "D" Security Officer License within 120 days of hire
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification within 120 days of hire
- Basic Security Officer Certification or higher from International Association of Hospital Security and Safety within 120 days of hire
- scheduling flexibility preferred
- strong customer service skills
- able to support hurricane teams on-site
- comfortable transporting deceased patients within the hospital
Job Duties
- Escort visitors, employees, and students upon request
- patrol hospital internally and externally on foot, bicycle, or vehicle
- provide key assists to sensitive hospital areas
- detect suspicious activities and respond appropriately
- report criminal activity to supervisors and law enforcement
- investigate accidents, preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and write reports
- assist medical staff with Baker Act and Marchman Act enforcement
- collaborate with law enforcement on patient/prisoner intake and status
- report safety and security violations
- respond to helicopter flights ensuring safety
- operate metal detectors
- maintain attendance
- comply with Orlando Health policies
- respond to threats, hostage situations, abductions, patient elopements, emergencies, fires, severe weather, bomb threats, hazardous materials incidents
- document incidents for liability mitigation
- enforce injunctions
- respond to disturbances
- escort terminated employees
- testify in court if subpoenaed
