Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes
- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards
- Must obtain a State of Florida Class D Security Officer License within 120 days of hire and renew biannually
- Must obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 120 days of hire and renew annually
- Must obtain a Basic Security Officer Certification or higher through the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety within 120 days of hire and maintain it during employment
- None experience required
- Scheduling flexibility preferred
- Ability to be on site during hurricane events
- Comfort with transporting deceased patients within the hospital

Job Duties
- Escorts visitors, employees, and students upon request
- Patrols all hospital areas internally and externally on foot, bicycle, and/or vehicle 24 hours a day in all weather conditions
- Provides key access assists to all hospital areas, including sensitive areas to authorized personnel
- Detects suspicious activities within the campus and handles situations appropriately
- Reports criminal activity to supervisor and law enforcement as appropriate
- Investigates accident scenes, preserves evidence, interviews witnesses, makes oral and written reports, and responds tactfully to stressful or hostile situations
- Assists medical staff with enforcement of the Baker Act and Marchman Act for patients using approved medical restraints
- Works with law enforcement and correction officers regarding patient/prisoner intake and status
- Reports all safety and security violations campus-wide
- Responds to helicopter flights ensuring helipad safety and assists flight crew with patient transport
- Uses and understands walk-through and hand-held metal detectors
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance and compliance with policies
