Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years of armed security experience or honorable military service preferred
- Law enforcement experience preferred
- Healthcare security experience preferred
- Completion of verbal de-escalation training within 60 days of hire
- BLS certification within 60 days of hire
- Completion of expandable baton, defensive tactics, firearms training and weapons qualification prior to authorization
- Successful completion of all required psychological assessments
- Willingness to undergo random drug testing
- Valid driver's license
- Maintenance of acceptable driving record
- Active Level 3 Commission required for Texas positions
- Completion of required training and authorization to carry weapon for New Mexico and Louisiana positions
- Adherence to CHRISTUS Health certification policies and timelines
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years of armed security experience or honorable military service
- Law enforcement experience preferred
- Healthcare security experience preferred

- Successful completion of pre-employment and post-offer psychological assessments
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Active Level 3 Commission with Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau for Texas positions
- Training completion and letter of authorization to carry for New Mexico and Louisiana positions
- Compliance with CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy
Job Duties
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS competencies: leader of self, leader of others, or leader of leaders
- Conducts frequent security patrols of the facilities and grounds as assigned
- Identifies and reports trends related to security issues and recommends actions
- Takes initial information for an incident report, uses proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, notes only facts, and submits report timely
- Responds promptly to all service requests relayed by supervisor, telephone, pass-on, e-mail, radio, cell phone and other correspondence courteously and expeditiously
- Responds to the collection, inventory and return of lost and found items, patient valuables, and personal property according to policy
- Enforces all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of CHRISTUS Health and state laws
- Controls and enforces facility parking using patrols, violation warnings, towing, booting and explanations
- Assists clinical and non-clinical associates with combative patients or visitors
- Demonstrates competence to perform assigned client care responsibilities meeting age-specific and developmental needs
- Operates security equipment proficiently including attendant console, paging system, security radio/dispatch, CCTV, and digital video recorder
- Generates electronic daily activity and incident reports, emails and other correspondence using PC
- Reports safety hazards during rounds
- Adapts client care to physical, cultural, and developmental needs
- Demonstrates competence with handgun, handcuffs, baton, non-crisis intervention, and two-way radios
- Handles exposure to aggressive behavior, hazardous conditions, and weather extremes
- Performs physical duties involving walking, standing, stooping, lifting
- Maintains mental alertness and communicates effectively
- Makes immediate decisions on laws, policies, and procedures
- Manages multiple tasks and personal stress
- Performs other duties as assigned
