Job Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Minimum two years of armed security experience or honorable military service
- Completion of verbal de-escalation training within 60 days of hire
- BLS certification within 60 days of hire
- Completion of expandable baton, defensive tactics, firearms, weapon qualification, and retention training prior to weapon authorization
- Successful passing of all pre-employment and psychological assessments
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts from 6PM to 6AM
- Flexibility to rotate between facilities including travel
- For Texas positions, active Level 3 Security Commission required
- For New Mexico and Louisiana positions, required training and authorization to carry weapon
- Must be physically fit to walk, restrain, and assist patients as needed
- Must be mentally alert and able to handle aggressive behavior and stressful situations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years armed security experience or honorable military service preferred
- Law enforcement experience preferred
- Healthcare security experience preferred
- Verbal de-escalation training within 60 days of hire
- BLS certification within 60 days of hire
- Completion of expandable baton, defensive tactics, firearms, weapon qualification, and retention training prior to weapon carry authorization
- Successful completion of all pre-employment and post-offer assessments including psychological evaluations
- Must hold valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- For Texas positions, active Level 3 Commission with Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau required
- For New Mexico and Louisiana positions, completion of 40 hours of training and letter of authorization from CHRISTUS Vice President of Security to carry weapon
Job Duties
- Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies including Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
- Conduct frequent security patrols of the facilities and grounds as assigned
- Identify and report trends related to security issues and recommend actions
- Take initial information for incident reports using proper grammar and factual notes, submit reports timely
- Respond promptly to all service requests via supervisor, telephone, radio, or other correspondence in a courteous manner
- Respond to collection, inventory, and return of lost and found items, patient valuables, and personal property per policy
- Enforce all CHRISTUS Health rules, regulations, policies, and state laws
- Control and enforce facility parking via patrols, citation issuance, towing, booting, and rule explanations
- Assist clinical/non-clinical associates with combative patients or visitors
- Demonstrate competence in client care responsibilities meeting age-specific and developmental needs
- Use Attendant Console, paging system, security radio/dispatch, digital video recorder, and overhead paging system proficiently
- Generate electronic daily activity and incident reports using a PC
- Promote a safe environment by reporting safety hazards during security rounds
- Adapt assigned client care methods to accommodate physical, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs
- Demonstrate competence with handgun, handcuffs, baton, non-crisis intervention certification, and two-way radios
- Handle exposure to aggressive behavior, emotionally charged situations, hazardous conditions, and varied weather
- Physically fit to walk all facility areas, restrain individuals as necessary, and assist nursing staff with lifting patients
- Maintain mental alertness and excellent written and verbal communication
- Make immediate decisions regarding laws, policies, and procedures
- Handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and manage personal stress and possible violence
- Perform other duties as assigned
