The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center (DCAC) is a distinguished non-profit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of abused children in Dallas County. Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Minimum one year experience in security or building engineer role
- Valid and clear driver’s license
- Completion of de-escalation training within three months of hire
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
- Ability to respond to emergency situations effectively
- Physical capability to patrol facility
- Strong communication skills
- Criminal background checks as required
- Ability to work onsite due to client confidentiality
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- At least one year of experience in a security or building engineer role
- Valid and clear driver’s license with annual background checks
- Certification in de-escalation training within three months of employment
- Knowledge of building security safety operations or facilities management preferred
- Familiarity with access control and surveillance systems such as Brivo and Eagle Eye is a plus
- Experience with computerized maintenance management software is a plus
- Skilled in time management communication organization and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- Ability to react appropriately in emergency and high stress situations
- Proficient in verbal de-escalation techniques
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to patrol the facility and assist with event setups
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees board members partners and community members
Job Duties
- Greet and monitor visitors ensuring compliance with established security protocols
- Ensure guests are checked in and sign in upon arrival
- Guard access points permitting or refusing entry re-directing trespassers and direct heavy traffic during start and end of business hours
- Respond immediately to distress calls panic alarms and emergencies calls for disorderly conduct disruptive persons and incidents swiftly and appropriately
- Patrol property securing personnel assets building gates and fence perimeter multiple times during shift
- Continuously monitors surveillance system throughout the shift to ensure the safety of guests and employees
- Operate building security systems including access control and video surveillance software and hardware ensuring continuous functionality and proper access controls for staff
- Conduct regular safety and security inspections of all areas reporting and addressing potential hazards promptly
- Inspect test and maintain security systems including coordination of external vendors for maintenance repairs and upgrades to security systems
- Maintain accurate records of security checks incident reports and system activity logs
- Manage building access control including issuance and recordkeeping of badges and keys as well as generating monthly badge reports
- Coordinate with IT and Human Resources in offboarding removal of access
- Serve as a key member of the agency’s Emergency Action Team by responding to emergencies and knowing the agency’s emergency response protocol
- Serve as an accessible point of contact for building safety and security concerns from staff partners clients and visitors
- Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to align safety and security strategies with organizational priorities
- Work in tandem with Director of Facilities to identify homeless encampments and escalate to proper authorities
- Coordinate with local law enforcement first responders and security vendors as needed
- Support facilities operations including event setup takedown special requests and day to day building needs
- Drive agency vehicle during special events
- Participate in professional development training related to current role
- Attend supervision meeting with the Director of Facilities for supervision guidance workload process improvement and team management discussions
- Distribute packages to proper locations
- Provide level 4 on-call response to security incidents and alarms including after-hours or weekend coverage as scheduled
