Job Requirements
- Completion of approved 8-hour food safety and sanitation training course within 60 days of hire
- one year commercial kitchen food preparation experience
- knowledge of food safety protocols and equipment operation
- ability to perform basic math calculations and read instructions
- strong communication and teamwork skills
- ability to use computer and foodservice software
- physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds
- legal authorization to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- Completion of approved 8-hour food safety and sanitation training course within 60 days of hire
- one year experience in a commercial kitchen preparing a variety of food
- knowledge of food preparation tools, terms, and measurements
- ability to perform basic math operations
- ability to read and interpret safety and procedure instructions
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- proficiency with computer or phone to access district email and foodservice software
- experience working with menu management software
- one year experience following USDA SNP regulated food programs
Job Duties
- Confers with kitchen manager to determine production timelines and schedules
- places and retrieves ingredients from storage areas following proper labeling and first-in-first-out procedures
- assesses and determines quality of inventory
- performs food preparation including peeling, cutting, mixing, and assembling using kitchen tools and equipment
- operates and maintains food preparation equipment such as ovens and steam kettles
- prepares hot entrees and side items in large quantities
- ensures food safety and quality by following recipes and batch-cooking
- oversees setup and service of hot items meeting quality and portion standards
- portions food to meet nutrition requirements and cost parameters
- uses cleaning chemicals and procedures to sanitize food contact surfaces
- records temperatures and other required daily information
- assists in inventory maintenance and usage recording
- instructs others on proper food handling
- provides short-term coverage for kitchen manager as needed
- completes required USDA SNP annual training
- performs additional assigned duties as necessary
