Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in food service or cooking role
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays on a part-time basis
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to complete annual physical examination
  • Capability to operate and clean kitchen equipment safely
  • Compliance with OSHA and JCAHO standards
  • Ability to follow work schedules and assignments
  • Effective communication skills
  • Membership in SEIU 1199-MSW collective bargaining unit

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food preparation in a healthcare or institutional food service setting preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards including OSHA and JCAHO regulations
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion control accurately
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with supervisors and team members
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Collective bargaining unit membership with SEIU 1199-MSW

Job Duties

  • Responsible for safety and sanitation of assigned work areas
  • Notify and communicate physical plant hazards to supervisors
  • Ensure food produced meets departmental and regulatory quality standards in quantity, temperature, and appearance
  • Produce and dispatch all food items timely according to departmental protocols including recipe and portion control
  • Adhere to established work schedules and production procedures
  • Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely and according to guidelines
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and JCAHO standards
  • Follow standard practices for storing, issuing, covering, labeling, dating, and rotating foods
  • Properly dispose of waste and garbage
  • Receive and sign for all food and supplies issued
  • Communicate with supervisors for daily and weekly assignments
  • Conduct yield tests, cutting tests, and recipe development
