Job Requirements

Five years of events experience including two years of leadership
valid driver's license
ability to be insured by Metro's insurance
ability to work a minimum of 20 hours and four days per week including evenings and weekends
physical ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl and stand long periods
ability to lift up to 50 lbs alone and up to 100 lbs with assistance
ability to work outdoors in varying weather
availability for holidays and weekends
commitment to safety policies
flexible schedule
willingness to perform emergency duties

Job Qualifications

Five years of events experience including two years leading employees or similar responsibilities
valid driver's license and ability to be insured
combination of education and experience providing necessary knowledge and skills
ability to interact effectively with people
experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and lifts
knowledge of building and grounds maintenance
knowledge of installing electrical cables and using various tools
ability to follow written and oral instructions
discretion with confidential matters
leadership and training skills
detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
collaborative working style
knowledge of lighting installation procedures
alignment with Metro's core values
regular attendance
ability to work independently and as part of a team
adherence to safety policies
physical ability to perform essential duties

Job Duties

Schedule and prioritize duties and responsibilities
ensure coverage for breaks and absences
monitor and report hours worked including payroll approval
provide training and direction on work assignments and safety standards
track and keep records of training
assist with monitoring assignments to ensure completeness and quality
communicate performance issues to supervisor
facilitate requests for events assistance including setup and takedown
inspect and ensure equipment, tools, and supplies are maintained and prepared
respond to facility and safety issues
arrange for repairs
maintain procedure manuals and suggest improvements
perform basic computer skills
coordinate ordering and purchasing of materials and supplies
set up and disassemble event equipment such as canopies and speakers
hang banners, backdrops, and props
assist performers, clients, and visitors during events
provide general customer service including directions
clean and perform maintenance tasks
operate ladders, forklifts, aerial lifts, and other equipment
install and uninstall seasonal and decorative lighting
utilize hand and power tools for display assembly and maintenance
troubleshoot power issues related to lighting
perform basic repairs on ZooLights
alert staff to problems needing attention
participate in recruitment and hiring processes
ensure compliance with laws and Metro policies
perform duties during emergencies
perform other assigned duties
