Job Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays
- Must pass a DOT drug test as required by the United States Coast Guard
- Must pass a post-offer background check
- Ability to speak, read, and write clearly in English
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to travel to and from various dock locations
- Must obtain Washington State Mandatory Alcohol Server Training Class 12 Permit within 14 days of hire if not already completed
- Must obtain Washington State Food Worker Permit within 14 days of hire
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds
- Full range of motion in all extremities
- Ability to navigate uneven and shifting surfaces including vessel decks, docks, piers, and dirt paths
- Ability to step or leap down three feet from a slow-moving platform
- Ability to climb over barriers up to 3.5 feet high
- Ability to stoop and crouch in small spaces
- Ability to communicate clearly and loudly
- Ability to swim
- Ability to work long shifts
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and extreme temperatures
- Availability to work late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to perform all seamanship duties including fueling, line handling, machinery space inspection, emergency drills, gangway deployment, and waste transfer
- Willingness and ability to comply with United States Coast Guard mobility and physical standards for deckhands aboard small passenger vessels as per USCG COMDTPUB B 16700.4, NVIC 1-91
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to speak, read, and write clearly in English
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to learn and perform multiple roles including deckhand, bartender, and tour guide
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to obtain Washington State Mandatory Alcohol Server Training Class 12 permit within 14 days of hire
- Ability to obtain Washington State Food Worker Permit within 14 days of hire
Job Duties
- Conduct vessel mooring and handle mooring lines
- Perform safety, mechanical, and fluid system checks before departure and during operation
- Clean and maintain deck and vessel areas at dock and underway
- Participate in regular emergency drills
- Move and set up boarding ramps at dock locations
- Shake, stir, and serve cocktails, beer, and wine
- Engage with guests, take orders, and make drink recommendations
- Process orders using point-of-sale system
- Guide guests through Seattle’s waterfront with scripted tours
- Deliver clear and engaging narrations
- Answer guest questions about points of interest
