Job Requirements
- High school education preferred
- Successful completion of an apprenticeship or training program
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, gross margins, percentages and ratios
- Ability to accurately complete required reports including daily sales and inventory counts
- Ability to hear, speak and understand spoken English
- Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, policies and job-related documents
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in cold and hot environments
- Ability to tolerate dust and chemical fumes
- Ability to memorize weekly prices and daily specials
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies
- Ability to maintain personal appearance and comply with dress code
Job Qualifications

- Ability to complete reports accurately including sales and inventory counts
- Ability to hear, speak and understand spoken word clearly
- Proficiency in reading, writing and understanding English language for instructions, policies, and communication
Job Duties
- Greet all customers and provide prompt courteous service
- Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- Manage cash drawer contents at start and end of shifts
- Maintain cashier accountability including over/shorts of till
- Scan or record purchases efficiently and accurately
- Recognize and differentiate produce varieties
- Assist customers with bulk products
- Collect payments and tender accurate change
- Process various sales transactions including Accounts Receivable, EFT, WIC Coupons, Food Stamps, manufacturer coupons, and gift certificates
- Bag or package merchandise according to company policies
- Handle damaged, spoiled products and returns per policy
- Ring all sales into cash register following cash handling procedures
- Verify customer IDs and observe policies on checks and alcohol sales
- Report cash variations exceeding set limits to management
- Record price discrepancies and request price checks
- Maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards
- Keep checkout, sales and storage areas clean and orderly
- Use and maintain equipment and report issues
- Adhere to policy on excessive cash in registers
- Observe security and report abnormal behavior
- Secure register when unattended
- Notify manager of personnel issues or policy violations
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned
- Assist in training associates and co-workers when directed
- Maintain good communication within the department and organization
- Comply with safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and observe dress regulations
