Job Requirements
- High school education preferred
- successful completion of an apprenticeship or training program preferred
- or equivalent combination of education and experience
- able to calculate figures such as discounts, gross margins, percentages, and ratios
- able to complete required sales, inventory, and financial reports accurately
- ability to hear and understand spoken communication effectively
- proficiency in reading and comprehending English instructions and company policies
- capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
- able to work in refrigerated and heated environments
- able to climb ladders and perform cleaning duties
- able to tolerate moderate dust and chemical fumes
- maintain good personal grooming and dress according to company standards
Job Qualifications

- ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, and apply basic algebra for sales transactions
- proficiency in completing reports including sales, inventory, receiving logs, and cash reconciliation
- effective communication skills in hearing, speaking, and understanding verbal requests
- ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret English for operating electronic equipment and understanding company documentation
Job Duties
- Greet all customers and provide prompt courteous service
- adhere to all local state and federal health and civil code regulations
- manage cash drawer contents at start and end of work shifts
- maintain cashier accountability including over and short tills
- accurately scan or record customer purchases
- identify and differentiate various produce merchandise types
- assist customers with handling bulk products
- collect payments and tender change according to company procedures
- process multiple types of sales transactions including accounts receivable, EFT, WIC coupons, food stamps, manufacturers' coupons, and gift certificates
- bag and package merchandise per company policies
- handle damaged or spoiled products and return-to-stocks
- ring all sales into cash register following cash handling procedures
- verify customer IDs and adhere to policies on check acceptance and alcohol sales
- promptly report any cash irregularities exceeding $5 or store-established levels
- record price discrepancies and request price checks for unlisted items
- maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with store and health regulations
- assist in cleaning checkout, sales, and storage areas
- maintain equipment and report malfunctions
- follow company cash pickup policies
- observe security standards and report suspicious behavior
- secure register when unattended
- notify management of personnel or policy issues impacting store performance
- perform other work-related duties as assigned
- assist in training associates and maintain good departmental and organizational communication
- comply with safety policies and maintain a neat personal appearance
