The City of Elkhart operates a dynamic Parks and Recreation Department committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents through engaging community programs and well-maintained facilities. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with cash handling preferred
- Experience with food handling preferred
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to remain calm and rational in stressful situations
- Positive demeanor when in contact with the public
- Ability to work afternoon hours and weekends
- Successful completion of post offer drug screening
- Acceptable background checks including BMV and criminal history
Job Qualifications
- High school education or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- First aid certification preferred
- Cash handling experience preferred
- Food handling experience preferred
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
- Must be able to do arithmetic, calculations, and balancing of the drawer at the end of the shift
- Customer service experience is a plus
- Ability to work with people and calm/deescalate tense situations when necessary
- Must be able to effectively prioritize daily work functions
Job Duties
- Collect admission fees from patrons entering facility
- Records accurate attendance and financial records
- Complete transactions for the food service sales while explaining pricing and items in a friendly manner
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons and employees
- Maintain clear communication with other staff members and supervisors
- Maintain a clean and safe area
- Prepare and serve ready to heat or serve food products
