Job Description

The City of Des Moines, Iowa, is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join its aquatic facilities team for the upcoming summer season. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • CPR and first aid certification required
  • Prior cashier experience preferred
  • Requires satisfactory criminal, sex offender and if applicable driving record background checks
  • Passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen is required prior to employment

  • Ability to work consistently throughout the season
  • Good communication and customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Perform cashiering duties and monitor patrons using city owned aquatic facilities including slides
  • Sell tickets, rental services, concessions, merchandise and other commodities
  • Assist with concessions including operating cash register and serving food as needed
  • Enforce all facility rules and regulations regarding public health and safety
  • Perform cleaning duties relative to opening, operating, and closing the facilities including floors, counters, restrooms, decks and landscaped areas
  • Prepare commodities for resale
  • Prepare daily reports and deliver money to designated persons
  • Assist in emergency situations by reacting appropriately in a quick and calm manner as part of the facilities emergency action plan
  • Assist with maintenance work on or around the facilities
  • Keep immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and activities
  • Attend required in-service training throughout employment
  • Perform related work as required
