Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent business tax preparation experience
  • active credential such as CPA, EA or practicing attorney
  • must possess or be able to obtain any related state licenses, certificates, permits, or bonds
  • active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
  • availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • must reside in the United States
  • must have or be willing to obtain internet connection meeting company security criteria
  • strong customer service skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • proficient with computer technology
  • ability to work with minimal supervision

Job Qualifications

  • Strong business tax preparation experience
  • extensive knowledge of tax laws for federal and state returns
  • experience preparing federal and state business tax returns (1065 and/or 1120-S) for at least 20 clients per season
  • minimum of 2 seasons of personal tax preparation experience preferred
  • knowledge of bookkeeping with books to tax preparation preferred
  • experience preparing business tax returns for service industry customers preferred
  • possession of or ability to obtain related state licenses, certificates, permits or bonds
  • active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
  • working knowledge of Circular 230
  • proficient with technology including computer operations and software
  • strong customer service skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • critical thinking, problem solving, research skills, and determination
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • availability to work at least 20 hours per week spread over three or more days
  • United States residency

Job Duties

  • Maintain sensitive customer, confidential and/or proprietary business information in a responsible, reliable, and safe manner
  • utilize government websites, professional resources, and team expertise to seek out and deliver the right answer to the customer using everyday language
  • interact with customers using state-of-the-art video communications software
  • provide tax advice, full service business return preparation and signature
  • handle product/software inquiries and tax calculations
  • file tax extensions
  • create high quality customer interactions and experiences that instill confidence using deep customer empathy and expertise
  • apply defined practices, procedures, and company policies to troubleshoot and resolve customer tax advice and tax return preparation issues
  • document customer interactions
  • work toward meeting company key performance metrics and goals
  • participate in pilot testing, projects, and experience validations as needed
