Job Requirements

  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience as a breakfast cook in a full service hotel or similar environment
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • ability to communicate in English orally and in writing
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • ability to understand verbal directions, menu details, chemical labels and safety signage
  • ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • frequent walking, bending, balancing, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting, manual dexterity and repetitive motions
  • occasional stair climbing
  • ability to handle hazards such as knife injuries, lifting injuries, slips and trips
  • schedule availability including early mornings, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Previous culinary experience in a similar environment
  • knowledge of food handling and storage practices
  • ability to follow recipes and portion control
  • experience working with kitchen equipment such as knives, immersion blenders, food processors, gas stoves, griddles and fryers
  • understanding of hygiene and sanitation standards
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
  • team player with ability to work under pressure
  • basic knowledge of food allergens and substitutes
  • ability to adapt to variable schedules including early mornings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Take control of the breakfast service and ensure guests receive a truly delicious and memorable experience
  • cooking and managing breakfast service and assisting with dinner service preparation
  • setting up and breaking down after the breakfast service
  • ensure the kitchen is kept clean and hygienic at all times
  • complete all daily responsibilities and cleaning task list
  • minimize waste of product
  • recognize and follow quality standards in regard to meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy products and grains including proper storage
  • ensure all mise-en-place is freshly prepared, rotated and on time
  • ensure all dishes are prepared to the correct recipe and quantity
  • communicate any anticipated issues promptly to the Executive Chef
  • treat all staff fairly and with courtesy
  • collect feedback from guests during breakfast and report to Executive Chef
  • liaise with Purchase Manager regarding daily raw materials for breakfast
  • adhere to health and safety policies and regulations
  • handle pressure calmly and professionally
  • understand personal sanitation and use of protective equipment
  • manually handle products up to 30 pounds
  • maintain vertical mobility in a limited space
  • protect the assets of the property and Migis Hotel Group
