Job Requirements
- successful completion of specialized experience or graduate education or a combination of both
- specialized experience must include activities like data collection, quality control, sample testing, and assisting in resource management
- ability to independently plan and execute natural resource management projects
- meet all qualifications by the closing date
- detailed resume with nature and dates of experience must be submitted
- transcripts must be provided if qualifying by education
- foreign education must be evaluated for equivalency
- must be available for seasonal employment typically from mid-april to mid-october
Job Qualifications
- at least one full year of specialized experience comparable to the gs-6 federal grade level
- ability to plan field projects and independently choose appropriate methods and equipment
- experience with research, conservation and management of natural resources such as wildlife monitoring, invasive plant control or ecological field studies
- completion of at least one full year of graduate education in related fields such as biology, ecology, forestry, or environmental science
- combination of education and experience as applicable
- volunteer experience in relevant fields is credited
Job Duties
- follow instructions and standardized procedures
- collect and organize field data
- ensure quality control of data collected
- perform routine and recurring testing of collected samples
- record data collected and provide preliminary assessment and classification of the information
- assist in the preparation of resource management reports, plans, and guidelines
- plan and execute tasks for natural resource management projects using established techniques
