Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing and walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift
  • hand use requiring single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures ranging from below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing) to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and cold environments
  • ability to handle knives and cutting equipment
  • ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 24 months retail experience
  • minimum 12 months team leadership experience
  • advanced knowledge of seafood products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management
  • food safety certification or commitment to certification within 6 months
  • excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills
  • capable of teaching others positively and constructively
  • thorough product knowledge
  • advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • proficient mathematical skills for financial performance assessment, profitability monitoring, and inventory management
  • demonstrated decision-making ability and leadership skills
  • ability to prioritize and delegate effectively
  • proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications

Job Duties

  • Hold assistant team leaders, supervisors, and team members accountable for outstanding customer service
  • make hiring and separation decisions in partnership with store leadership
  • monitor and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets
  • project annual sales and expenses and prepare operating budget
  • manage ordering and inventory to achieve targeted profit margin contribution
  • establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with departmental and store leadership
  • establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships
  • sustain exceptional knowledge of relevant competitors and industry trends
  • set and achieve highest standards of retail execution
  • foster and encourage positive teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct team members accordingly
  • respond promptly to customer needs and questions
  • select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain high-performance and minimize turnover
  • communicate and maintain team member safety and security standards
  • provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
  • consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market vision and goals
