Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking or baking experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and procedures
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to handle money accurately if required
- Physical capability to perform necessary tasks including lifting and standing
- Willingness to work under supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to adapt to changing work conditions and priorities
Job Qualifications
- Experience in cooking or baking in a food service environment
- Knowledge of nutrition standards and food safety regulations
- Ability to lead and assist staff in meal preparation
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
- Basic math skills for handling money and inventory
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for prolonged periods
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and interruptions
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve attractive, high quality, nutritious, cost effective meals following standardized procedures
- Comply with approved safety and sanitation procedures
- Assist in the cleaning of kitchen, equipment, tables and storeroom as scheduled
- Report equipment malfunctions to ensure safe working conditions
- Assist in maintaining appropriate food and supply inventories
- Direct or assist unit employees in meal preparation tasks during emergencies or training
- Maintain required daily records and reports and submit to Kitchen Manager
- Collect money and account for meals served if requested
- Maintain a plate count for records
- Promote Child Nutrition Services programs to increase meal participation
- Assist school staff in promoting proper nutrition
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with others
- Perform related duties as assigned
