Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Four years of progressively responsible food service experience including quantity cooking and food services management
  • Possession of a valid food handler training level certification from an approved organization
  • Demonstrated supervisory aptitude
  • Ability to comply with safety and sanitation regulations
  • Experience in fiscal management and recordkeeping
  • Ability to train and evaluate food service staff

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Valid food handler training level certification
  • Two years of general experience in quantity cooking including menu planning and fiscal recordkeeping
  • Two years of specialized experience in food services management within schools or institutions
  • Supervisory aptitude demonstrated through leadership roles or training
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to maintain budgets and process invoices
  • Experience with inventory management and ordering
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Determine and develop plans for efficient service, equipment, facilities, and operations in consultation with principal and School Food Service Branch
  • Manage and direct daily food service operations and revise internal operating procedures
  • Establish and maintain standards of quality control for food production and distribution including menu preparation and accommodation of dietary needs
  • Participate in employee interview and selection, plan, direct, schedule, and evaluate subordinate work, including students in kitchen and dining areas
  • Provide orientation and training to food service employees on safety, sanitation, portion control, and USDA training requirements
  • Estimate and order food and supplies, arrange receipt and storage
  • Maintain perpetual inventory, daily financial reports, state and federal records manually or by computer
  • Monitor and control expenditures, maintain assigned budget, process invoices for payment
  • Inspect kitchen and dining areas for compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Schedule and supervise equipment maintenance and repair
  • Coordinate satellite food serving operations including preparation, scheduling, supervising, delivery, serving, and clean-up
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and workshops, maintain required certifications and annual training hours as per USDA
