Job Duties

  • Determine and develop plans for efficient food service operations in consultation with the principal and Food Service Branch
  • Manage and direct daily food service operations and revise internal procedures
  • Establish and maintain quality control standards for food production and distribution
  • Supervise preparation of approved menus and serving of USDA reimbursable meals
  • Modify menus for prescribed dietary needs of students
  • Participate in hiring and evaluation of food service employees and supervise student workers
  • Provide orientation and training on safety, sanitation, portion control, and standard recipes
  • Estimate and order food and supplies and handle receipt and storage
  • Maintain inventory, financial reports, and records manually or with computer assistance
  • Monitor cost-effectiveness, control expenditures, and maintain the assigned budget
  • Inspect kitchens and dining areas to ensure health and safety compliance
  • Schedule and supervise maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Coordinate satellite food service operations including personnel scheduling and meal delivery
  • Attend staff meetings and workshops and maintain required certifications and training hours as per USDA guidelines
