Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Food Handlers card
  • At least six months of relevant food handling experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check
  • Physical capability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, and perform repetitive motions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and customers
  • Basic knowledge of cooking, food prep, cleaning and sanitizing procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Food Handlers card
  • Six months of food handling service or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of customer service principles, basic math, cooking and food prep equipment, inventory management, cash handling, and cleaning and sanitizing methods
  • Ability to read and follow recipe directions and use food thermometers
  • Skills in customer service, operating cooking equipment, monitoring inventory, handling money, and maintaining order among children
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparing and cooking foods such as panning frozen food, washing and bagging fruits and vegetables, baking, chopping salad items, monitoring food temperatures, preparing sandwiches, and removing hot items from ovens
  • Serve and replenish food supply
  • Clean cafeteria and kitchen areas including wiping down tables, loading dishwashers, cleaning refrigerators and ovens, sweeping and mopping floors, picking up trash, sanitizing towels, and placing garbage cans
  • Prepare the cafeteria for meals by placing food in hot carts, rotating foods, preparing trays, and monitoring utensils and napkins availability
  • Assist with monitoring food inventory and perform counts of unused food after daily meal services
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in all food handling and serving processes
