Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
- at least five years of progressive experience in food service management, preferably in school food programs
- proven knowledge of National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program regulations
- experience with procurement processes and budget management
- demonstrated skills in staff supervision and conflict resolution
- ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- capacity to analyze and improve program operations
- availability to attend ongoing training and professional development
- compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations
Job Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in nutrition, dietetics, food service management, public health, or related field
- significant experience in school nutrition program management or food service administration
- knowledge of federal and state regulations for school nutrition programs
- strong leadership and organizational skills
- experience in procurement and inventory management
- ability to develop policies and procedures
- familiarity with nutritional standards including USDA guidelines
- proficiency in relevant software systems
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to manage and train staff effectively
Job Duties
- Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and manages the activities of the assigned area of responsibility
- participates in overall planning of the statewide School Food Services Program
- maintains management controls over assigned areas to ensure planned levels of accomplishment
- evaluates program operations and develops new or revised policies, procedures, and standards
- plans, develops, implements, and evaluates long-range goals and short-term objectives
- directs procurement processes for food, equipment, and supplies ensuring cost-effective sourcing
- establishes inventory systems to track and allocate food and supplies
- ensures adherence to wellness policies promoting nutrition education and healthy eating
- oversees menu creation and updates ensuring compliance with USDA nutritional standards and addressing dietary restrictions
- implements, executes, maintains, and updates software systems used by the branch ensuring operational efficiency and data accuracy
- ensures compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action or provides recommendations to address deficiencies
- participates in recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and performance evaluation of subordinates
- recommends approval of personnel actions and resolves conflicts
- attends meetings, workshops, seminars, and training to stay current with food service trends and regulations
