Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or 6 months custodial related experience
  • Basic cleaning methods, equipment and products knowledge
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or 6 months custodial related experience
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment and products
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check
  • Preferred two or more years experience as a school custodian
  • Preferred expert knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment including power tools and hand tools, and cleaning products

Job Duties

  • Clean and maintain building facilities including classrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, teacher work rooms, bathrooms, library/media rooms, gymnasiums, lunchrooms, nurses' rooms, stages and lobby/receptionist areas
  • Perform room set-ups for scheduled meetings and events including daily cafeteria set-up
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors using cleaning solutions, tools, and equipment
  • Clean and/or polish walls, ceilings, windows, and building fixtures and whiteboards
  • Clean entryways, hallways, door mats, and door glass daily
  • Dust furniture, walls, light fixtures, baseboards, student desks and other equipment
  • Gather and empty trash
  • Clean and service cleaning equipment daily and as needed
  • Apply wax or sealers to wood or concrete floors as directed
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks such as light bulb and filter changes
  • Notify Campus Facility Manager or Custodial Supervisor of supply needs, major repairs or additions
  • Operate hand tools, small power tools, ladder, vacuum, floor buffer and other cleaning equipment
  • Follow HAZMAT regulations and Safety Data Sheets
  • Show flexibility in work hours including during summer school schedule
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments while cleaning and repairing equipment, furniture and buildings
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Walk, stand and remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned
