Job Duties
- Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
- follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- dusts and washes furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures
- moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, manually or using hand trucks
- removes stains from rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions
- sweeps walks, rakes leaves, cuts grass, removes snow, or performs other seasonal tasks
- mixes water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions
- cleans and vacuums carpeted areas, including spot cleaning treatments
- gathers and empties trash
- wipes and cleans tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas
- cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures
- services, cleans, and supplies restrooms
- periodically cleans vents, dusts blinds, and polishes wood furniture
- cleans interior glass, windows, partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning materials
- sprays insecticides and fumigants to prevent infestations
- sets up, arranges, and removes decorations and equipment for events
- maintains janitor’s closet and cleaning equipment
- requisitions necessary supplies and equipment
- monitors building security and safety after hours
- performs miscellaneous duties as assigned
