Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Experience in quantity cooking in a restaurant, school, hospital or institution
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Ability to follow standardized recipes
- Physical ability to perform cooking tasks
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training
- Ability to supervise helpers and manage inventory
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Knowledge of quantity cooking principles
- Experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and adjust yields
- Familiarity with kitchen safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to estimate ingredient quantities and preparation times
- Experience supervising or directing food service staff
Job Duties
- Plans, coordinates and works with food service employees to prepare meals on schedule
- Reviews food production records and plans cooking and preparation accordingly
- Weighs and measures ingredients accurately following standardized recipes
- Prepares, cooks and assembles various food items including special dietary meals
- Sets up serving counters and serves students and staff
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment and utensils
- Supervises cafeteria helpers and assists in training new employees
