Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Food Handlers card
  • Six months of food handling service or equivalent experience
  • Ability to prepare and serve food according to tested recipes
  • Ability to perform kitchen cleaning duties
  • Ability to monitor and manage food inventory
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check
  • Ability to obtain and hold valid fingerprint clearance card as required based on state
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Food Handlers card
  • Six months of food handling service or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and basic mathematical concepts
  • Skills in food preparation, equipment operation, inventory monitoring, recipe reading, kitchen sanitation
  • Ability to handle food safely and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparing and cooking foods including panning frozen food, cupping fruit, washing and bagging fruits and vegetables, baking foods, chopping salad items, monitoring food temperatures, preparing sandwiches, removing hot items from ovens
  • Serve and replenish food supply
  • Clean cafeteria and kitchen areas including wiping down tables, placing trays, picking up trash, sweeping and mopping floors, loading dishwashers, cleaning refrigerators and ovens, putting garbage cans in proper locations, sanitizing towels, putting up benches
  • Prepare cafeteria for meals including placing food in hot carts, rotating foods, preparing utensils and napkins, preparing trays, placing scoops and spoons for serving
  • Assist with monitoring food inventory and perform counts of unused food following meal service
  • Perform other duties of similar nature or level
