Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Reports to the Kitchen Manager for work assignment and instructions at the beginning of each working day or as necessary
  • Assists in the preparation and portioning of salads, sandwiches, dessert, beverages, butter, bread and rolls, using the proper recipes, and sanitation procedures including gloves
  • Obtains food and equipment necessary to do assigned jobs and assists wherever requested by the Kitchen Manager
  • Helps place food up to 20 pounds in serving lines up to 6 times per half-hour
  • Makes sure that the tools for serving are in place
  • Checks that condiments, napkins, silverware, and dishes are in place
  • Checks dining room to ensure that everything is in readiness
  • Assists in serving and in being responsible for notifying the Kitchen Manager when additional foods must be prepared for the serving line
  • Makes sure that the kitchen and serving areas are as neat as possible during serving and keeps them that way in free moments when not serving
  • Performs clean-up duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager including helping with pots and pans, cleaning and sanitizing work tables, equipment and serving tables, and running the dish machine as assigned
  • Creates a positive pleasant atmosphere
  • Carries out other functions deemed necessary by Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services and/or Kitchen Manager
