Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • valid California Class 'B' Driver's License with 'P' and 'S' endorsements
  • California School Bus Driver Certificate
  • Blood Borne Pathogens certification
  • fire extinguisher training
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • pre-employment drug screening
  • pre-employment physical exam
  • criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
  • TB clearance

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • successful completion of bus driver training
  • valid California Class 'B' Driver's License with 'P' and 'S' endorsements
  • California School Bus Driver Certificate
  • certification in blood borne pathogens
  • fire extinguisher training
  • First Aid and CPR certificates
  • knowledge of safe and defensive driving practices
  • understanding of traffic and transportation laws
  • interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to perform safety inspections
  • effective discipline enforcement on bus

Job Duties

  • Drive a school bus along a designated route
  • transport students, faculty and parents on field trips or events
  • pick up and discharge students according to schedules
  • perform daily safety inspections of buses
  • maintain order and discipline among passengers
  • assess and respond to emergencies including administering first aid
  • maintain buses in clean and safe condition
  • attend training and safety meetings
  • utilize two-way radios for communication
  • conduct emergency evacuation drills
  • prepare reports and documentation
  • respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff
