Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain
  • Passenger and School Bus endorsements
  • Ability to pass medical examination
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Willingness to follow safety regulations and DOT rules
  • Physical ability to assist students including those with disabilities

Job Qualifications

  • Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain
  • Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
  • Ability to pass medical examination
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication abilities
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan and organize work activities efficiently
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality
  • Adaptability to changing work environments
  • Dependability and punctuality

Job Duties

  • Operate and safely drive a school bus in various conditions while complying with traffic regulations
  • Communicate bus rules and behavior requirements to passengers and address improper behavior
  • Assist students boarding and unloading the bus including those with adaptive equipment
  • Inspect buses daily for maintenance and safety deficiencies
  • Complete records and reports such as pre-trip, post-trip, route logs, and student reports timely and accurately
  • Maintain proficiency with GPS navigational technology and student attendance systems
  • Comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements
