Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • minimum one year of experience in an appointment scheduling position
  • knowledge of medical practice protocols
  • knowledge of manual or computerized scheduling systems
  • knowledge of customer service principles
  • skill in communication
  • skill in scheduling and report production
  • ability to multitask
  • ability to communicate calmly and clearly
  • ability to analyze situations and respond appropriately

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Make appointments for patients following medical practice procedures
  • integrate tasks with receptionist, registration clerk, or medical assistant duties
  • maintain the master appointment schedule using manual or computerized systems
  • communicate effectively with physicians and clinicians about scheduling preferences
  • produce reports about appointment patterns as needed
  • multitask effectively handling phone calls, in-office patients, and staff requests
  • communicate calmly and clearly with patients including in emergency situations
