Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of two years experience in physician office or related hospital setting
- Ability to understand and use medical terminology
- Knowledge of medical billing and insurance pre-authorization processes
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proficient in word processing and data entry
- Effective communication skills in person and over the phone
- Ability to manage scheduling conflicts and work with multiple stakeholders
- Familiarity with Medicare inpatient list and appropriate admission statuses
- Capability to collect patient payments prior to procedures
Job Qualifications

- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures
- Proficient in word processing and data entry
- Skilled in preparing and maintaining patient records
- Ability to develop and maintain filing systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of third-party insurance pre-certification procedures
- Understanding of Medicare inpatient rules and admission statuses

Job Duties
- Schedule appointments for Houston Surgical Associates
- Complete initial patient contact for scheduling procedures and surgical interventions
- Verify all CPT codes and Diagnosis codes assigned by physicians
- Initiate and track insurance pre-authorization and certification
- Assign appropriate admission status post procedure
- Complete all forms necessary to schedule surgery
- Coordinate surgical intervention with HHC OR and HASC
- Schedule post-operative care and follow-up visits
- Scan and fax surgical documents via EMR to OR staff
- Answer telephone inquiries related to scheduling and insurance
- Resolve scheduling conflicts as needed
- Document all scheduling process information and patient visit re-schedules
- Ensure timely submission of records to physicians
- Obtain and attach Operative Reports to ECW charts before post-operative appointments
- Close Operative encounters weekly
- Confirm insurance eligibility and balance owed to the practice
- Contact patients regarding balances owed and payment requirements
- Collect balances for surgeries
- Perform any required office duties
