Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One or more years of experience in a full-service kitchen non-fast food preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds repeatedly
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work weekend shifts including Saturday and Sunday
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One or more years of experience in a full-service kitchen preferred
  • Proficiency in basic cooking skills including vegetable scullery and light baking
  • Ability to operate kitchen electrical and mechanical equipment safely
  • Strong attention to detail in food preparation and plating
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with residents and staff
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation protocols

Job Duties

  • Gather all foods needed for meals by following the menu
  • Work directly with the chef and receive assignments
  • Wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables
  • Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or judgment
  • Observe and test foods for proper cooking
  • Plate food attractively
  • Lift, unload and move food and supplies
  • Clean serving and preparation items independently or assist others
  • Use kitchen equipment safely
  • Maintain food and supply inventory
  • Prepare cold foods, light baking, perform basic cooking skills
  • Make tea and coffee, clean coffee machines
  • Set up trays with utensils, napkins, condiments, and diet cards
  • Place plates, desserts, drinks on trays and cart
  • Clean area and handle milk, juice, tea urns
  • Retrieve trays and trash, wash dishes, sweep and mop floors
  • Report unusual conditions or resident reactions
  • Interact kindly and professionally with residents, families, visitors and coworkers
  • Protect confidential resident and organizational information
  • Follow safety, fire, disaster and bomb threat procedures
  • Adhere to organizational and nursing procedures
  • Attend conferences and in-service sessions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
