Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • food safety certificate through the state, county, or ServSafe required within 30 days of hire
  • 1.5 to 3 years of experience in kitchen environments with basic cooking and food preparation skills
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and adhere to health and safety regulations
  • capacity to build positive relationships with residents and guests
  • availability to work full-time
  • strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Open and close the kitchen like a pro
  • prepare and serve breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks daily
  • create dishes for special events such as parent weekends
  • craft healthful, nutritious, and organic meals and snacks
  • maintain kitchen cleanliness including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, floors, and dishware
  • ensure compliance with state health and hygiene standards and Newport Healthcare's expectations
  • build positive connections with residents to make mealtimes enjoyable
  • adjust schedule to align with programming and kitchen needs
  • engage positively with parents and guests
  • participate in baking or cooking groups to share ideas and learn new skills
