Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 18
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
  • ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
  • ability to work with customers and stay attentive to their needs
  • physical ability to perform department-specific tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 55 lbs, and managing loads exceeding 65 lbs with assistance when necessary

Job Duties

  • Provides superior customer service
  • takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answers customer questions regarding products
  • assists them with selections
  • prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • assists in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • operates and maintains equipment properly
  • complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards and department/store operating procedures
  • records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
  • takes care of service counter customers (deli)
  • uses ordering system applications and Fresh Production Planner (deli)
  • performs inventory management processes
  • serves and packages products at customer's request (prepared foods)
  • educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
