Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to work with customers and stay attentive to their needs
- physical ability to perform department-specific tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 55 lbs, and managing loads exceeding 65 lbs with assistance when necessary

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards and department/store operating procedures
- records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
- takes care of service counter customers (deli)
- uses ordering system applications and Fresh Production Planner (deli)
- performs inventory management processes
- serves and packages products at customer's request (prepared foods)
- educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
