Job Requirements
- HS diploma or GED or equivalent
- Customer service and communication skills
- Computer systems knowledge including Telxon, ACR, and label machine
- Completion of company orientation and safety training
- Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- Ability to work with customers attentively
- Willingness to perform department-specific physical demands such as reaching, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 90 lbs for Market department and up to 50 lbs for Seafood department
- Responsible safe lifting practices
- Ability to perform fine motor movements and maintain physical stamina
- Flexibility to perform additional job-related tasks
- Ability to comply with food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- Answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections
- Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product
- Slices, packages, labels, and rotates products
- Scans in items on Telxon for production
- Assists in technical areas as needed
- Merchandises product effectively
- Uses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales
- Makes regular announcements related to freshly-produced items and to increase sales
- Cleans and sanitizes display cases and properly operates and maintains equipment
- Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Complies with departmental SOPs and store operating procedures
- Peels, cuts, and chops fresh fruits and vegetables in Aguas department
- Prepares fresh specialty drinks and food products specific to the Aguas department
- Designs floral arrangements and provides a variety of fresh, quality products in Floral department
- Designs and executes merchandising programs
- Tracks seasonal record when appropriate
- Cuts, trims, and prepares meat for service meat counter and self-service counter in Market department
- Ensures proper product rotation and storage
- Maintains coolers and freezers
- Weighs, prices, and packages selections
- Operates power meat prep and process equipment
- Stocks and rotates product to ensure freshness in Produce department
- Assists floral department when needed
- Communicates product knowledge to customers by explaining and providing samples
- Cuts, wraps, and prices produce to be placed on sales floor
- Maintains signing program
- Knowledgeable about various fish and shellfish in Seafood department
- Weighs, prices, and packages selections
- Maintains coolers and freezers
