Job Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in Culinary Arts
  • Completion of ServSafe Food Manager Training within 90 days of hire and continuous certification renewal
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred
  • Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Physical ability to operate kitchen equipment, reach, grasp, stand, move, push, pull, bend, lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel minimally for job-related duties such as training and project work
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in Culinary Arts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Completed ServSafe Food Manager Training within 90 days of hire and maintains certification according to Illinois Department of Health guidelines
  • Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge

Job Duties

  • Consults with the buying team and organizes preparation schedule to ensure items are prepared on time and appropriately
  • Serves as a liaison for internal operational tasks including catering requests, inventory collection, and product sample submissions
  • Provides feedback on cooking instructions, product packaging, and sensory attributes in relation to benchmarks and company specifications
  • Provides training to new personnel and contributes to committee or teamwork
  • Recommends process improvements for area of responsibility
  • Leads preparation for all sampling sessions
  • Assists in development and maintenance of quality evaluation processes and projects
  • Supports sample evaluation processes including sensory evaluation tool development, sensory training, and internal sensory panels
  • Creates recipes and menus utilizing private label items for packaging, merchandising, marketing, and internal meetings
  • Prepares reports, presentations, and quality evaluation materials for QA Kitchen, QA Department, and Buying Team
  • Supports Quality Assurance Product Evaluation process through physical product evaluation including sensory attributes, percentage by weight, Brix, and viscosity
  • Supports Public Relations initiatives and provides culinary support at on-site events
  • Maintains understanding and adherence to sampling procedures
  • Maintains hygiene, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in sampling and kitchen areas
  • Cleans up product samples between samplings
  • Ensures safe and organized handling and storage of product samples
  • Maintains weekly inventory following first in, first out rule for best buy dates
  • Collaborates with team members and communicates information to leadership
  • Upholds security and confidentiality of documents and data within responsibility
  • Performs other assigned duties
