Job Requirements
- Submit to pre-employment testing including drug screen and background check
- must sign Sysco Protective Covenants Agreement
- reside or be willing to relocate to geographic vicinity of territory
- possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- maintain current automobile insurance with required liability coverage
- availability to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- possess basic PC skills and proficiency in MS Office applications
- demonstrate effective communication skills in English
- have a strong sales orientation and customer service focus
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, hospitality, culinary arts or related discipline OR HSD/GED with 3 years restaurant management, B2B or outside sales experience or equivalent relatable experience including completion of Sysco Sales Internship
- bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- experience in restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or chef experience preferred
- valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- current automobile insurance meeting liability requirements
- basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Office
- ability to read, write, and speak English
- strong competencies in building trust, building customer loyalty, follow-up, sales ability, managing work, adaptability, and communication
Job Duties
- Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within assigned territory
- seek and qualify prospects following company account stratification goals
- research customer business needs and develop a mix of products and services to meet those needs
- evaluate market trends and recommend products to customers based on their business needs and goals
- stay informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales
- answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and product use
- provide product information and practical training to customer personnel
- drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, and company meetings
- communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary in coordination with the credit department
- manage deliveries according to transportation schedules and troubleshoot order process challenges
- participate in company functions, promotions, and customer visits and events
- attend and participate in general sales and district meetings
- engage in ongoing training sessions
- assist with the training of new employees as requested
- review and analyze daily and weekly reports including special-order requests, customer bid files, sales and gross profit margin data
- perform administrative duties such as preparing sales budgets, maintaining sales records, processing credits and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions
- perform other duties as assigned
