Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Successfully complete MVR, background check, and pre-employment drug test
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to work unusual business hours such as holidays, weekends, and evenings
  • Positive attitude and high energy
  • Excellent communication and social skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend job-related instructions and information
  • Ability to accommodate physical demands of the role including standing 6-8 hours per day and exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and outdoor elements

Job Duties

  • Must be able to handle and drive all cars safely to protect dealership property and always ensure damage prevention
  • Porter's responsibilities also include driving off-site to do dealership tasks when necessary
  • It is also necessary for these individuals to take detailed notes on vehicle conditions and movements
  • Compare serial numbers of incoming cars against invoice
  • Inspect vehicles to detect damage and to verify the presence of accessories listed on the invoice, such as spare tires and radio and stereo equipment
  • Record the description of damages and list missing items on the delivery receipt
  • Assign stock control numbers to cards
  • Catalog and store keys
  • Deliver sold vehicles to the new-vehicle preparation department
  • Other duties as assigned
