Job Description
This job posting is for a Sales Manager role at a hotel operated by an independent franchisee. The hotel is part of the hospitality industry and operates under a franchise model, where the independent franchisee holds full control over employment practices including recruitment, salary, benefits, and data processing. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous sales or hospitality industry experience preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to travel as required
- Ability to work varied schedules
- Regular attendance according to established guidelines
- Ability to lift approximately 10 pounds
- Physical ability to sit, stand and walk for varying lengths of time
- Finger dexterity to operate office equipment
Job Qualifications
- Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent sales skills demonstrated by ability to talk and listen to clients professionally
- Ability to work in a high demand and sometimes high-pressure environment
- High work ethic and self-initiative
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and guest confidentiality
- Ability to participate in and sometimes lead team meetings
- Basic computational ability
- Focus and attention to detail to complete work assignments on time despite interruptions
Job Duties
- Conduct a successful, aggressive solicitation process involving outside sales calls, inside appointments, telephone calls, individual letter and direct mail
- Assist the Director of Sales in the preparation of the annual marketing plan, including the action plans covering assigned market segments
- Send proposals on all leads and actively follow through to convert from proposal to definite status
- Clearly outline on booking sheets client room block, suite, meeting and banquet space requirements
- Obtain, document, and route all necessary information on definite groups including billing, credit application, rooming list, and VIP arrangements
- Maintain a sales quota as assigned by the Director of Sales
- Prepare and provide the Director of Sales with weekly sales call reports and itineraries
- Work cooperatively with fellow associates and promote courtesy, goodwill, and positive attitude in all encounters
