Job Requirements

  • high school degree or equivalent
  • 2 years of hotel-related sales experience
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to carry, lift or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • 2 years of hotel-related sales experience
  • experience with catering preferred
  • 1 year of sales experience in a 4-diamond hotel with 8,000+ sqft of function space preferred
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • high school degree or equivalent required
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • other languages beneficial
  • mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • Delphi FDC and Opera PMS experience a plus
  • proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • valid driver’s license required
  • physically able to carry, lift or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients
  • manage according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates of the hotel
  • achieve personal and team goals as assigned
  • prospect, solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business within deployment to maximize revenue and achieve budgeted revenue goals
  • utilize both direct sales strategies and inside sales strategies to develop new accounts, maintain existing accounts, and develop new relationships
  • monitor and handle inquiry calls and provide client proposals in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
  • arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients
  • attend sales, revenue, and department meetings as appropriate
  • create and implement hotel-level tactical sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase business volume during off-peak periods
  • enhance the image of the hotel in the local community
  • deliver sales activities and performance to ensure actual sales exceed the established revenue plan
  • analyze current and potential market and sales trends and coordinate all activities to maintain and increase revenue and market share through added business volume and increased rate
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups
  • act as manager on duty as required
  • attend evening social and breakfast events as a representative of the management team of the hotel and to prospect for additional sales leads as required
  • perform any other job-related duties as assigned
