Job Requirements
- must have 3+ years of progressive sales experience
- previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred
- ability to negotiate and close sales
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems
- ability to prospect and solicit new clients
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to manage budgets and contracts
- availability to work varying shifts including nights and weekends
- ability to lift and move objects up to ten pounds
- must be proactive and results oriented
Job Qualifications
- must have 3+ years of progressive sales experience
- previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred
- experience selling luxury brands and experiential services preferred
- aggressive negotiating skills and creative selling abilities
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel systems such as Delphi
- strong customer development and relationship management skills
- knowledge of menu planning, banquet and event service operations
- financial management skills including understanding of p&l statements, forecasting and budgeting
- strong verbal, listening, and writing communication skills
- problem-solving skills
- presentation and platform skills
- strong organization and persuasion skills
- ability to conduct internet research and prospect new customers
- ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventories
Job Duties
- builds the department top line revenue by adhering to sales strategy guidelines set forth by the director of sales and marketing
- meets and exceeds individual revenue goals
- effectively manages customer budgets to maximize revenue and meet customer needs
- identifies opportunities to up-sell products and services throughout the sales process
- exceeds company minimum standards with the sales process and acts as a mentor for others
- understands the overall market including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand
- builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers through sales calls, entertainment, and familiarization trips
- conducts customer site inspections
- proactively solicits new business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals
- responds to incoming inquiries within four hours
- closes the best opportunities based on market conditions and hotel’s needs
- accurately forecasts group sleeping rooms and revenue prior to turnover
- creates sales contracts as required
- comprehends budgets to assist in financial management of department
