Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive sales experience
  • Previous hospitality industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed revenue goals
  • Strong negotiation and sales skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and hotel management software
  • Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships
  • Ability to travel locally for client meetings and site inspections
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, sit frequently and lift up to 10 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Must have 3+ years of progressive sales experience
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred
  • Experience selling luxury brands and experiential services preferred
  • Aggressive negotiating skills and creative selling abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of hospitality systems such as Delphi and Delphi Diagrams
  • Strong customer development and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of menu planning, food presentation, banquet and event service operations
  • Ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventories
  • Knowledge of AV products and services
  • Understanding of contract management and legalities
  • Financial management skills including P&L understanding, budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling
  • Strong verbal, listening, and writing communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer and associate relation skills
  • Strong presentation and platform skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Ability to conduct research on the Internet and aggressive prospecting

Job Duties

  • Builds the department top line revenue by adhering to sales strategy guidelines set forth by the Director of Sales & Marketing
  • Identifies revenue opportunities for the hotels based on the event profile
  • Meets and exceeds individual revenue goals
  • Effectively manages customer budgets to maximize revenue and meet customer needs
  • Identifies opportunities to up-sell products and services throughout the sales process
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers including sales calls, entertainment, and FAM trips
  • Conducts customer site inspections
  • Excels at proactive selling by targeting key accounts, markets, or segments
  • Responds to incoming inquiries within their market segment within 4 hours
  • Closes the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs
  • Accurately forecasts group sleeping rooms and revenue prior to turnover and supports the process thereafter
  • Creates sales contracts as required
  • Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction and builds long-term mutually beneficial customer relationships
  • Coordinates and communicates verbally and in writing with customers regarding event details
  • Makes presence known during events and collaborates with Convention Services
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality ensuring consistent high-level service
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback and handles complaints
  • Reviews Guest Service Results and participates in corrective action plans
  • Demonstrates commitment to company operating principles
  • Holds self and others accountable for achieving results
  • Addresses conflict timely
  • Contributes to team results and deals effectively with change
  • Treats people fairly with dignity and respect
  • Uses sales resources and support staff effectively
