Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • previous retail or hardware experience preferred but not required
  • ability to stand for most of the shift

Job Duties

  • help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise as arranged by management
  • maintain assigned areas and assist with other areas as necessary
  • execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management with a sense of urgency
  • cooperate with others and actively participate in daily huddle meetings
  • remove promotional bin tags and price tags as required following sales events
  • restock merchandise displays and monitor end caps and side wings
  • handle special orders for non-stock items and ensure customers are not told no without checking with another team member
  • watch for shoplifters and take action according to company policy
  • provide the best possible experience for every customer by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly
  • stand in main aisles when not assisting customers to observe and assist shoppers
  • serve customers in assigned departments and storewide providing advice and information
  • demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process
  • participate in store communication and initiatives
  • assist customers with complaints or concerns and involve management as needed
  • use the Five Foot Rule to greet or acknowledge customers within five feet
  • always be polite, attentive, make eye contact and smile
  • promote the Ace Rewards program and explain the Ace Helpful Promise
  • maintain awareness of promotions and advertisements to inform customers
  • wear radio and headset for effective communication
  • respond to team member questions and phone calls
  • assist customers with large or heavy items as needed
  • offer baskets or carts for customer shopping use
  • assist in training and developing peers
  • respond to requests for backup cashier duty as needed
