Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited four year college or university
- Minimum of three years sports or tourism sales and marketing related experience
- Established contacts in the sports or tourism industry
- Valid driver’s license and ability to secure a valid Florida driver’s license at time of employment
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to make public speaking presentations
- Ability to analyze data and prepare reports
- Ability to coordinate meetings, conferences and special events
- Ability to prepare budgets and tactical sales strategies
- Required to report for work during a declared emergency in Polk County

Job Duties
- Assist the Sales and Event Manager with creation and implementation of the tourism and sports marketing sales plan
- Travel extensively promoting Polk County as a destination
- Target and develop niche markets that increase overnight stays in Polk County
- Plan and coordinate sales missions in target markets
- Assist with budgeting, financial control, and analysis
- Coordinate sales and marketing presentations to decision makers
- Generate and qualify leads using tourism and sports databases
- Assist in coordination and operations of county-owned and co-owned special events
- Develop and manage special event budgets including revenue projections and expenses
- Negotiate and secure room blocks and rates for special events
- Develop and maintain contact lists of current and prospective clients
- Assist in design of sales and marketing materials
- Perform related duties as required
